Write a Feature for this Newsletter
Fellow RMA members,
Do you have a recent achievement? An innovative practice? Maybe you tried something that didn't work out as planned... sometimes we learn more from our mistakes and failures than from our successes.
One of the primary focuses of RMA and APPA is the professional development and education of our members. When you share your experiences and accomplishments you assume the role of teacher and educator. I am constantly amazed at the wealth of information and experience I encounter from our members at the RMA/APPA educational and training sessions.
Or perhaps you would you like to celebrate an exceptionally accomplished team member or group? In Facilities Management we are by necessity a self congratulatory lot. Often our accomplishments remain unsung in the annals of our institutions, lost amongst the new set of problems or systemic failures which continue to arrive unabated at our doorsteps.
As Harvey Chace once wrote in these pages the mechanics, plumbers, electricians, carpenters, painters and locksmiths, facilities professionals all, are our heros. To that purpose, RMA and APPA celebrate their achievements and accomplishments as often as possible, both formally through awards and recognition and also in our newsletters and publications. Have you written something about your heros lately that you would be willing to share?
When submitting articles please make sure to include:
- A title for your article
- Your institution's name
- Your job title
- A snapshot if you desire a photo credit
Your article should be sent to me (JoeMetzger@asu.edu) and will be included on the RMV features page for at least one month. When it is rotated off the features page it will be included in the indexed archives for posterity.
When I started as your Newsletter Editor in 2005 my self assigned mantle of Normally Agreeable Gazeteer (aka NAG) was descriptive of my practice of sending out quarterly solicitations for newsletter content. My hope is that I will not be required to continue this, but I remain prepared to do so! So to avoid my annoying little nags please consider writing a RMV article today.
Regards,
JM
