Become Involved in Rocky Mountain APPA
Tell me and I’ll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I’ll understand. ~Chinese Proverb
Opportunities for involvement within our organization are many and varied, some requiring certain professional skills (ie. accounting background for the Secretary-Treasurer) while others are more akin to "learning on the job".
Here are just a few ideas:
- Become a Board Member - Click on the Board tab to see the various positions that compose the RMA Board of Directors. With the Boomers working their way out opportunities may soon abound!
- Participate in a Committee - Click on the Committees tab to see what they do and their composition. Committee work is a great way to get in at the ground level of RMA.
- Write an Article for this Web Site - On the News tab we feature articles from our membership at large. Effective communication skills are essential for all of us, plus you get to share your story.
- Serve on an Annual Host Committee - Each year a group of dedicated folks perform an amazing amount of work to ensure that the annual educational conference is a success. This is a one year committment that will give you an understanding of what it takes to host such an event.
- Present at the Annual Educational Conference - Here's your opportunity to take the podium and present your success stories in your area of expertise. All of us benefit from the sharing of these experiences.
- Become a Toolkit Instructor - On the education tab you will find information on how to become a Supervisor's Tookit certified instructor. This will be a great benefit to the region and it looks pretty good on the resume as well.
- Host a Toolkit or EFP Session - APPA has established a regional strategy for the delivery of the Supervisors Toolkit and EFP sessions. If you are interested in hosting one of the sessions, perhaps in conjunction with another APPA or RMA meeting, please contact the Chair of the Professional Development Committee.
- Become a 14er or Climbing Buddy - The Fourteener's Club is a unique RMA concept (named appropriately for a geographical feature unique to our region). Click on the 14er tab to find out more about this prestigious club. And share your years of experience with our younger members by becoming a climbing buddy (aka mentor).
Feel free to contact any board or committee member (contact info is provided on the respective tabs) to discuss current or upcoming opportunities. Expand your horizons and abilities by becoming active in Rocky Mountain APPA today!
